New year, new you. How many times have you heard that? Well, now, with just a few simple tricks, you can make that mantra come true…
Losing weight is easy, just eat fewer calories than you burn. Of course, if it was that easy, this feature would end here. So why do we find such basic advice so hard to stick to? It is because what you put in your mouth isn’t the first step towards losing or gaining weight, it is the last.
Everything, from where you shop to to the crockery you use, can influence how and what you eat.
And it is this, not your addiction to eating nachos in front of The X Factor that makes it so hard to lose weight. Read the statements in each section, opposite, and if you agree with them, read on.

Losing just 125 calories a day can help you lose a stone in a year. Try these tips today to start the journey of losing weight without dieting.
1. Putting ice cubes in your drinks forces your body to heat itself up, burning calories.
2. We tend to pour more liquid into short, wide glasses, so use tall, thin ones.
3. Keep snacks somewhere unreachable and you’ll eat less of them.
4. Bulky food feels satisfying, so stuff a smakl sandwich with salad to make it looking bigger.
5. The more variety, the more you will eat. So at a buffet, stick to just two or three types of food.
6. If you can see what you have eaten, you are more likely to stop. So if you are snacking, keep the wrappers.
7. Eat the healthiest item in a meal first, and you might eat less of the unhealthiest bit.
8. If you have a food craving, chew gum or clean your teeth instead.
9. When eating out, pace ypurself with the slowest eater.
