Grace Is Gone (幸福已逝)
Directed by James C. Strouse. With John Cusack, Emily Churchill, Rebecca Spence. It was released in 2007.
The plot is simple. It’s about love, life, courage and hope. The story happens in a normal family in Minnesota. When the wife, who is a sergeant with the U.S. Army, was posted to Iraq, the husband is home with their two daughters, one 12, and the other 8. After the news of the wife’s death was brought to the husband, he found it hard to tell the girls the truth. Then he decided to take the girls for a car ride to cheer them up and prepare them for the bad things. They have great fun at the park and the husband finally summons his courage. It’s moving and worthy of pondering over.
Courage is the ability to see one’s loss of love in the face, and the ability to maintain faith in hope.
