How to Take Care of Your Favorite Clothes

Submitted by admin on Sunday, 18 January 2009No Comment

Here is the collection of some advice on caring for your favorite clothing.
1. For Tangled Wool Sweater
Treat the tangled strands as if they were your own hair: untangle them and rinse in conditioner.

2. For Pilling
Special pill removers are now available and are more or less effective. A more classic approach is to shave them off with a sharp razor.

3. For Smelly Shoes
Replace the insoles. If your shoes still smell, freeze them for at least three days. Another old trick is to put a mug of 24% vinegar in each shoe and cover the opening with a paper bag. Let them stand overnight.

4. For Sweat Stains
Use diluted vinegar.

5. For Clothes Bleeding Dye
This is a real clothing saboteur, yet ordinary salt will set the dye. Fill a bathtub with hot water and a cup of salt. Leave the clothing in the tub for a half-hour, then drip-dry.

6. For Hanging Clothing
Hang creased trousers on the hanger’s crosspiece of the hanger with the creases properly aligned. Hang skirts from small sidehooks. Hang dresses with the lining facing out. Use wooden hangers; your clothes will last longer.

7. For Fold Sweaters
Sweaters often lose their shape when put on a hanger. Fold and stack them instead, just like shirts, with their sleeves folded back. Fold backwards in the middle.
