In order to celebrate the Chinese New Year, it has been a long-time annual tradition of holding Flower Street festival in the city of Guangzhou. Ever since the cultural revoultion, every district in Guangzhou have been setting up a flower street three days before the eve of spring festival, which is from 27th to 30th of the lunar calendar. For example, the festive is held on the Xi Hu Road and Jiao Yu Road in Yuxue district, on the Dong Hua Nan Road in Dongshan District, on the Li Wan Bei Road in Liwan district and on the Jiang Nan Xi Road in the Haizhu District.
The flower street, is also called as the yearly flower street. Hawkers will set up booths with bamboo shelves in the flower street selling flowers, fruits and all kinds of season goods for the spring festival. It is pretty much like the Christmas market in the west. The flower street is held till 2 am on the Chinese New Year Eve.
Beside the flower streets, there are Spring Festival Flower Shows and chrysanthemum show in the major parks of Guangzhou, such as Yuxue Park, Guangzhou Culture Park, the Guangzhou Memorial Park, the Liu Hua Lake Park as well as the Liwan Lake Park.

Such New Year celebrations are also held in the city of Hongkong.
