Stay-Safe Top Ten

Submitted by admin on Tuesday, 20 October 2009No Comment

For people who loves traveling, here’s some advice for a fun-filled and safe holiday.
1. Scan your documents and email them to yourself so you can access them, whatever happens.
2. Agree the best routes back to your hotel. Pinpoint a few landmarks, such as big hotels, where you could go for help if something goes wrong.
3. Carry a personal alarm which clips to your handbag and isn’t too bulky.
4. Keep cash to a minimum and consider using a prepaid credit card so you have all your holiday money in one place and a set spending limit. Keep valuables in the hotel safe.
5. Keep an emergency credit card in the hotel safe too, so if you are robbed, you have access to cash.
6. Buy your own drinks to avoid having them spiked. If you do get one bought for you, watch it being poured and never leave it unattended.
7. Stick to licensed cabs recommended by your hotel and only get in radio-controlled ones. They should always have some ID on display.
8. Put a parent or friend’s details under ‘HOME’, an internationally organized word, into your mobile.
9. If you do find yourself in a situation when you’re on your own, keep your head down and walk with a purpose. Never stand still looking lost or reading a map in a public place.
10. Practice self protection. If a guy starts trying to touch you, push him in the chest and shout ‘No!’ as loudly as yu can. By demanding he stops immediately, you’re maintaining control of the situation.
